Food Vendor Participation
Participation terms and information for food vendors is provided below. Please make certain that you have read and understand this information before submitting your vendor application.

Food booth opportunities:
- 10'x10 foot space (tent is not provided by MECA)
- On site security throughout the event.
- Opportunity to sell signature menu items
- Opportunity to promote your company onsite with coupons, menus, promotional materials, and name identified uniformed employees
Booth fees:
$2500 For Profit Business
$1250 Not For Profit Organizations (must attach proof of 501©3)
Food vendors are required to obtain mandatory city of Houston health permits at their own expense.
Food Vendor Deposit fee: $350.00
If you are unable to participate in the event, your deposit fee will not be refunded once you are accepted as a food vendor and your signed contract has been received.
If you are not accepted as a food vendor, your deposit checks will be returned to you no later than October 1st.
Notification of acceptance:
Applicants will be notified of their status on or before September 15th. Food vendors who are accepted will receive a contract and further detailed information. Participation fees and contract will be due October 1st.
Method of selection:
MECA Day of the Dead Festival: Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Future can accept a limited number of vendors. Vendors will be selected on a 1st come 1st served basis with consideration for professionalism, experience, menu selection, compatibility, and diversity.
Menu items and pricing:
Each food vendor should offer no more than three menu items. Menus are approved on the basis of diversity and to maintain exclusivity in each food area. All food sales are paid for by coupon only. Vendor then redeems coupons. The food vendor will receive a check for 90% of net sales (less any additional charges). Checks can be picked up 7 days after redemption or will be mailed upon request.
Grilling:
Grilling is permitted and vendors are required to adhere to standard fire department codes.
Electrical:
Electricity is not available at this time.
Propane:
Propane is allowed for cooking. All state and city regulations must be followed. Vendors are responsible for their own propane arrangements.
Vendor insurance:
Prior to the event, vendors must show proof of general liability insurance ($500,000 per occurrence) and name MECA as an additional insured.
