Job Opportunities

Graphic Designer

A part-time position of 15-20 hours. More hours may be required during the Fall Semester when MECA’s most popular events occur. The job mostly consists of designing and producing printed material such as brochures and event programs; a designer will also need to make graphics for our website and social media (facebook, Instagram) accounts, as well as managing those accounts along with our other web services.

Software:
Microsoft Word (How to work with images within a document).
Microsoft Excel – Optional – for filling out timesheets each pay period.

Adobe Photoshop (Basic photo editing)
Adobe Illustrator (Vector Graphics, type setting, document production)
Adobe InDesign (Optional, see Production)

Production:
Illustrator is used to produce duplex booklets for event programs, as well as other collateral. They are printed in-house on a Kyocera printer. The designer must know how to navigate the printer settings to produce the correct kind of document when necessary. While all of these can also be produced in Adobe InDesign, all existing documents are built in Illustrator.
There are times where documents, like promotional postcards, are sent off to a printer outside of MECA.
Additional duties include printer upkeep, ordering toner, and more.

Administrative:
MECA uses:
- The Yahoo Small Business platform to set up e-mail for the staff.
- Weebly for the web-hosting service. This is a drag and drop system; while basic coding knowledge
(HTML & CSS) is welcome, it is not necessary.
- Constant Contact to send out bi-weekly newsletters to the MECA community. This also includes managing the contact database in the MECA account.
- Patron Manager to create event ticketing
