Job Description

Title: Development Department Intern
Reports to: Development Director, Communications Manager, and the Media & Public Relations Coordinator

June, July, & August - 40 Hours Per Week
September through May - 20 Hours Per Week

Summary of Job Description: To assist in the promotion of MECA and its programs and performances in the community.

Specific Responsibilities:

Activities/Responsibilities

 

Under the direction of the Media and PR Coordinator create and distribute information and press packets as needed.

 

With the Media and PR Coordinator represent MECA at all Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce events.

 

With the Media and PR Coordinator represent MECA at all PRSA-Houston Chapter events.

 

At the request of the Media and PR Coordinator represent or coordinate representation for MECA for most print, television, and radio interviews.

 

With the communications manager coordinate the mail out for MECA's quarterly newsletter Artístico.

 

Under the direction of the Media and PR Coordinator, responsible for the promotion and marketing of the Viva Mariachi MECA.

 

Assist Media and Public Relations Coordinator with various tasks as needed.

 

Fax press releases to all media on certain events.

 

Assist Media and Public Relations Coordinator with the advertising, marketing, media and public relations for MECA Day of the Dead Festival: Honoring our Past, Celebrating our Future.

 

Maintain MECA voice mail box 34 in Spanish as the MECA calendar of events.

 

Maintain consignment relationship with Zocalo and Casa Ramirez.

American Humanics Student Internship

I. Purpose
The American humanics student internship provides the student with a meaningful and intensive on the job experience in preparation for an entry level manager position while maintaining a student role, and provides the organization with the opportunity to train and utilize future professionals in the nonprofit sector a successful internship will require long term planning by the student which includes substantial input and mentoring from the departmental academic advisor, the American Humanics Program Director, and the agency supervisor.

II. Program Overview
Mission Statement: to prepare undergraduate students for the American Humanics certification in nonprofit management and be the preferred source of entry-level nonprofit professionals.
