OFRENDAS - Altar Exhibition

Inspired by the Mexican tradition, MECA announces its annual Dia de Muertos/Day of the Dead Ofrenda Altars Exhibition, which is scheduled from October 15, 2018 thru November 15, 2018.  This traditional event honors/memorializes our ancestors – our loved ones who have died.  Anyone interested in creating an “ofrenda” altar may find the application, fee information, dates for set-up, and altar specifications/regulations in the link below.  Altar space is limited and available spaces will be assigned by the order applications and fees are received – first come, first assigned.  Application forms and payments may be submitted as early as August 13, 2018 with end date of September 21, 2018.  For more information, contact Luis Gavito at lgavito6@gmail.com. ​

Altar Exhibition Application

Space is limited and is assigned based in the order applications and payments are received. 

Completed applications may be submitted as early as August 13, 2018.

Completed applications may be emailed to lgavito6@gmail.com or may be mailed or hand-delivered to MECA, 1900 Kane Street, Houston TX 77007. 

KEEP IN MIND THAT ALTAR SPACE WILL NOT BE ASSIGNED UNTIL FULL PAYMENT IS RECEIVED. 

The Ofrendas/Altars Exhibition will be opened to the public on Monday, October 15, 2018 and will run through November 15, 2018. 

Altar Exhibition KICK-OFF RECEPTION will be Friday, October 19, 2018, 7:00 - 9:00 P.M.

Altar Exhibition Set-up Dates:  Weekend October 6th & 7th and the weekend October 13 & 14 (all altars must be completed by the end of day October 14th).
