CURRENT ART EXHIBIT
LUMINARY | A solo show by Yvonne Póo
Opening reception: Saturday, March 11th 6 - 9 PM
While our generation stands at an inflection point in history, many of the issues at the forefront of modern social and political discourse are so-called "women's issues". However, what's lost in this language is the fact that these are also fundamental human issues. In exploring the many facets of womanhood, motherhood, compassion, endurance, and independence, we explore what it is to be human. Women's rights are human rights. Empowering women is empowering humanity. "I have decided to call this show Luminary to honor the Moon, which since antiquity has been associated with the magic and mythology of femininity, the cycle of life, mercy, and an imaginative spirit. The works in this show seek to create a lens through which we can view the feminine experience and the themes that define it." - Yvonne Póo |
